Final Details for Late Late Toy Show Performance

Dear Parents

Today was a truly magical day for the children. The rehearsal went very well and RTE were very pleased.

The children were impeccably behaved all day and represented St. Canice’s so well. I was very proud of them all.

Just a few final reminders for tomorrow. I would like the bus to leave on the dot of 7.30pm, so please be at the school at 7.15pm.

The dress code is the same as it was today – blue jeans, white polo shirt, runners and Santa hat. Please don’t forget the Santa hat!

Please give your child water and a small snack to eat before the bus journey home.

If we are running late tomorrow night, we will text you to let you know.

Thanks
Regina O’Leary

Late Late Toy Show Rehearsals

Eamon has just received word from RTE that the jazz band rehearsal is on Sunday next, 23rd November in Clasac in Clontarf from 1pm-6.30pm.

We will travel by bus leaving at 10.45 am from the school. Children are to bring their instrument and a packed lunch and drink. We will stop in McDonalds on the way home so please give your child €5 to cover this. We would hope to be back at the school by 8.30pm. Children can wear their own clothes on Sunday.

As the Jazz Band are playing a new piece of music on the Toy Show, it is essential that all children attend the usual jazz band practice this Thursday and RTE have asked us to point out that only children who attend the full rehearsal on Sunday can take part in the Toy Show.
For logistical reasons, I would prefer if all children travel on the bus on Sunday.

A parent of a child in the Music Programme has offered to cover the cost of the bus on Sunday, and also the buses on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th. On behalf of the Music Programme, I wish to extend enormous thanks for this extremely generous gesture. It is greatly appreciated.

As soon as we receive further information from RTE on times for the 26th and 27th, we will contact you.

I hope that all children can travel on Sunday and take part in this great musical adventure!

Senior Jazz to appear on Late Late Toy Show!

Congratulations to the Senior Jazz Band who were successful in their recent audition and who will now appear on the Late Late Toy Show on Friday 28 November! Well done to Eamon Cahill and all the children involved!

We have been informed that the Jazz Band will need to attend 2 special rehearsals staged by RTE in Dublin prior to the show; on Sunday 23 November and again on Thursday 27 November. The Band will be performing in the live show on Friday 28 November. Further details regarding times and transportation will issue to you nearer the date.

Unfortunately we do not have any tickets for the Toy Show!

Christmas Busking Rehearsals

The Senior Orchestra will be busking on Friday 19 December from 1-3pm in McDonagh Junction. This is a traditional Christmas event and one which the children greatly enjoy. Normally we are able to rehearse for this event during the regular orchestra rehearsal time. However this year as the orchestra is working very hard in preparing for the Festival of Youth Orchestras concert in February, there will not be enough time to rehearse Christmas music also.

With this in mind, it is planned to have 3 special busking rehearsals on Wednesdays from 7-8pm, starting on Wednesday 19 November. If your child wishes to take part in the busking, please ensure they attend these rehearsals. I am aware that many children may be involved in extra curricular activities at this time, and may not be able to attend all the rehearsals. Copies of the music will be available if your child cannot attend all rehearsals and I would appreciate if you could encourage your child to practice at home! All children must attend the final rehearsal which will be in mid December – date to be confirmed.

Many Thanks

Regina O Leary
