St Canices Instrumental Music Programme

Our annual and highly anticipated breakfast morning will take place in the school hall on Friday 13th December. This is a very successful fundraising event for the Music Programme. The Menu was handed to your child today and the slip showing their selections should be returned to their class teacher by Wednesday 4th December. The cost of the Breakfast is €4 per child and includes a raffle entry for the chance to win a selection box.

Our collaboration with the NSO has afforded two of our very lucky violinists an opportunity to travel to the National Concert Hall see the final rehearsal of the NSO for their tour. Aoibheann Smyth and Niamh Walsh will also receive a master class with Tasmin Little, OBE, one of the world’s leading violinists!

Ana O’Shea, Liam Smyth, Aoibheann Smyth, Niamh Walsh, Ben Kavanagh, Eva Loli, Andrew Brennan-Smyth and Ellie Kane performed Trepak on the Sue Nunn show today to showcase their talents and to publicise the NSO collaboration and upcoming concert on Friday, 6th December, in the Watergate Theatre.

All music lessons next week (25th-29th November) are cancelled due to parent teacher meetings taking place (that includes lunch time classes).  The only exceptions are for those involved in the Senior Orchestra – details below.

Because of the upcoming concert/workshops with the National Symphony Orchestra the Senior Orchestra rehearsal will go ahead at the usual time on Wednesday 27th i.e. 3.45-5.00pm.  In addition the following sectionals will take place next week for senior orchestra members only:

Monday 25th 2.45-4.00pm – Sectional Rehearsals:
All Brass & Saxophones
All strings (with the exception of violin 2nds)
Flutes & Recorders
Clarinets

Tuesday 26th 2.45-3.45pm – Sectional Rehearsals:
Double Basses

Wednesday 27th 2.45-3.45pm – Sectional Rehearsals:
2nd Violins

Our privileged orchestra members were conducted by Fergus Sheil (Conductor RTE National Symphony Orchestra) this evening and will also enjoy his professional attention at their rehearsal next Wednesday, 27th November!
