The Music Programme will welcome a new Administrator in June when Ruth Walsh takes over from current Administrator, Mary Conway. Mary has been Administrator of the Instrumental Music Programme for the past 3.5 years. During that time, she oversaw the day-to-day running of the programme. Mary was responsible for computerising the financial details of the IMP as well as completing a full inventory of the instruments. She was also one of the main organisers of the very successful trip to the National Concert Hall in February 2012 where the Senior Orchestra took part in the prestigious IAYO Festival of Youth Orchestras. One of Mary’s main jobs each year was the production of the music programme timetable each September – a task which has become more onerous and complicated each year as the programme continues to grow! It is a testament to Mary’s dedication and conscientiousness that the timetable was always produced on time! We wish to thank Mary for the amazing job she has done and most particularly for her commitment to the programme, often over and beyond the call of duty. We wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.
Ruth Walsh will take over from Mary after the Maytime Melodies Concert. Ruth is a former student of Regina’s, who taught her in 5th class. She was involved in music throughout her primary and secondary school years and is currently Leader of the newly formed St Canice’s Gateway Orchestra. Ruth has also been actively involved with Regina for the past 12 years, in helping out with weekly art classes for junior and senior infants. Regina is delighted that Ruth has agreed to take over the role which Mary has played in administering the music programme. We wish Ruth every success in her new position.
