St Canices Instrumental Music Programme

Meet the Orchestra, which was filmed in May using the Senior Orchestra, is being aired on RTE JR from  Monday 30th September @ 12.30pm & 1.35pm Daily and again at 4.05pm & 4.55pm.  It will also be aired on RTE 2 Monday30th – Friday  at 8.45am-8.50am.  They will air everyday until October 6th. Enjoy it!

From next Wednesday (25th September) until the mid-term break (week beginning Monday 28th October) Senior Orchestra rehearsal times will change from the current rehearsal time of 3.45pm-5.00pm to 6.45pm-8.00pm. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. The change has been made to accommodate those pupils involved in the school’s gaelic football teams, who are involved in matches on Wednesday afternoons.

• All music lessons will commence on Monday 9th September 2013 (with the exception of Junior Infants).
• Junior and Senior Orchestra rehearsals will commence on Wednesday 11th September 2013. Junior Orchestra from 2.45pm-3.45pm and Senior Orchestra from 3.45pm-5.00pm.
• Senior Jazz Band rehearsals will commence on Thursday 12th September from 2.45pm-3.45pm and Junior Jazz Band rehearsals on Friday 13th September from 2.45pm-3.30pm.
• Junior Infants lessons will commence on Monday 16th September 2013.

Please note that lessons have been organised with reference to teacher’s availability, children’s availability (if they are partaking in more than one class) and classroom availability. It is extremely difficult to re-arrange a child’s lesson time or group so unless it is absolutely necessary to do so, it would be greatly appreciated that you do not request changes to the timetable.

Our thanks to Kilkenny Borough Council, who under the Arts Act Grant, have given us a grant of €700. We will be using this towards the purchase of new violin cases.
