Senior Orchestra Rehearsal Monday 3rd November

Just to remind all Senior Orchestra members that a STRINGS ONLY rehearsal will take place on this Monday at 2.45pm. This includes all violins, all cellos and all violas only – double basses, wind and brass need not attend.

Also in relation to the Festival of Youth Orchestras concert on Sat 7th February 2015, I have been informed that an additional three rows of seats have now become available at the back of the concert hall. If you have not yet booked your tickets, please do so, as tickets are selling very quickly for the concert. https://www.nch.ie

Senior Jazz Band Audition for Late Late Toy Show

Well done to Eamon Cahill and the Senior Jazz Band who travelled to RTE last Wednesday morning to audtion for the Late Late Toy Show! The children put in a great performance and looked suitably festive in their red sweatshirts and santa hats. We should hear in the next couple of weeks if the Jazz Band have been successful or not. Many thanks also to those parents who travelled up on the bus and assisted on the day.

Additional Senior Orchestra Reheasals and NCH tickets now on sale!

The IAYO Festival of Youth Orchestras Anniversary concert is taking place on Saturday 7 February 2015. It is a real honour for the school and the Orchestra to have been asked to participate in this special concert. There are not many rehearsal dates left between now and the concert date and the orchestra still has lots of work to complete. In order for the children to be fully ready for the concert, they will require some extra rehearsal sessions between now and the performance date as follows:-

Sun 9th November 12-2pm
Sun 7th December 12-2pm
Sun 11th January 12-2pm
Sun 25th January 12-2pm

I hope that as many children as possible can attend rehearsals on these dates, which will take place in the school. We will issue reminder emails nearer the date. I understand this is a lot of extra work, however the children will be given a break from rehearsals for a couple of weeks after the concert. I would encourage parents to ensure children are practicing the pieces at home.

Tickets are also now on sale for the concert! All tickets can be purchased by contacting the NCH at  014170000 or online at www.nch.ie Tickets prices are as follows:-

  • Adults €15 (Concessions: €10)
  • Children (14 and under): €7.50
  • Family ticket: €40 for family of 4
  • 40% discount for Groups of 10 or more
  • 20% discount for Friends of the National Concert Hall

Please ensure you book for the 8pm performance. Traditionally, tickets sell out very quickly for this event and as we anticipate that a large number of parents will be travelling up from Kilkenny to attend the concert, we would urge you to book your tickets early! All ticket enquiries must be made directly to the NCH – the music committee has nothing to do with ticket sales for this event.

Many Thanks for your continuing support and co-operation.
