Music Network Grant

Dear Parents

I am delighted to let you know that the music programme has been successful in a recent grant application to Music Network/Arts Council supported by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and has been awarded a grant of €6,958.

Following a comprehensive grant application prepared and sumittted by the Parents Music Committee, we were awarded the maximum amount we requested. One of the main criterion of the granting of the award is that the music programme must provide an additional 25% of the funding ourselves.  The proceeds from the hugely successful Christmas Breakfast morning have been earmarked for this purpose. The grant money will be used to purchase addtional cellos, a double bass, saxophones and french horns to ensure we can contine to develop our orchestras and jazz bands for the future.  Over 100 applications were received for funding and we have been very fortunate on this occassion to have received such a substantial grant.

I would like to wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and I look forward to a very busy and exciting year of music in 2015!

Congratulations to the Senior Jazz Band, Perfomers on the Late Late Toy Show

Late Late Toy Show Resized

Many congratulations to Eamon and our Senior Jazz band who performed on last nights Late Late Toy Show. It was a spectacular show and we are so proud of all the children. They have put in a tremendous amount of work over the past couple of weeks. They had a marvellous night in RTE last night – even meeting Ed Sheeran along the way! It was a  very late night for the children with the bus not returning until 130am so we hope the children all have a very restful weekend!

Final Details for Late Late Toy Show Performance

Dear Parents

Today was a truly magical day for the children. The rehearsal went very well and RTE were very pleased.

The children were impeccably behaved all day and represented St. Canice’s so well. I was very proud of them all.

Just a few final reminders for tomorrow. I would like the bus to leave on the dot of 7.30pm, so please be at the school at 7.15pm.

The dress code is the same as it was today – blue jeans, white polo shirt, runners and Santa hat. Please don’t forget the Santa hat!

Please give your child water and a small snack to eat before the bus journey home.

If we are running late tomorrow night, we will text you to let you know.

Thanks
Regina O’Leary
